You may be having difficulty releasing the tubing from the replacement filters.
Where the tubing enters, there should be what looks like a layer of green circular dot underneath a smaller oval layer of white. Press down on the white oval layer while pulling up on the tubing and it should pop right off.
This will work on both the top and bottom of the filter.
